Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)
Most visitors to Sri Lanka require an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arrival. This must be obtained online before traveling.
Tourist ETA
- • Valid for 30 days
- • Double entry allowed
- • $25 USD fee
- • For tourism purposes
Business ETA
- • Valid for 30 days
- • Multiple entry allowed
- • $25 USD fee
- • For business purposes
Visa-Free Entry
Citizens of the following countries can enter Sri Lanka visa-free for specified periods:

How to Apply for ETA

Visit Official Website
Go to the official Sri Lanka ETA website: www.eta.gov.lk

Fill Application Form
Complete the online application with your personal and travel details

Pay Fee
Pay the $25 USD fee using credit card or other accepted payment methods

Receive Approval
ETA approval is usually received within 24 hours via email
Required Documents
- Passport valid for at least 6 months from date of entry
- Return or onward ticket
- Proof of accommodation or hotel booking
- Sufficient funds for the duration of stay (minimum $15 per day)
- Yellow fever vaccination certificate (if arriving from infected areas)
Important Notes
- • ETA must be obtained before arrival - no visa on arrival
- • Print a copy of your ETA approval to present at immigration
- • Extensions up to 6 months are possible through Department of Immigration
- • Business visa holders must provide invitation letter from Sri Lankan company
- • Transit passengers staying less than 12 hours may not need ETA
